Senior Zaiyahn Ornelas is now a four-time state wrestling champion (the 39th in Nebraska history) in four different weight classes (106, 113, 120 and 126) at two schools (Creighton Prep and Wilber-Clatonia). The Husker wrestling commit also helped the Junior Jays repeat with a Class A state team title this season.

The Omaha North girls’ basketball team, led by Coach Michaela Dailey, will be returning to the Class A state tournament (for the first time since 2002) after the No. 1-ranked Vikings (24-4) posted a 69-50 home win over Bellevue West to win the District A-2 championship on Friday night.

Bennington girls’ basketball Coach John O’Connor will lead his undefeated Badgers (25-0) into the District B-2 final at noon today against Crete (16-10). Class B girls basketball teams in seven district finals will all be competing for spots in next week’s state basketball tournament.
